1 Stylish Mama | April of Knocked Up FabulousKayla Moncur
I’m not entirely sure how I first stumbled upon Knocked Up Fabulous but it didn’t take me long to become a HUGE fan. April managed to dress her growing belly for work in ways that I found so inspiring. Dressing for pregnancy is hard but April is like the bump whisperer and she got it right every. single. time. I took notes. So did Redbook — she was recently featured!
Now she’s a working mama of two darling kiddos who makes motherhood look dang good and crazy stylish. Her photos are amazing and she also has the best coat collection I’ve ever seen (trying really hard not to be jealous over here).
Welcome April! 1 of 8
Her hair is what my dreams are made of.
Mom Uniform 2 of 8What does your mom uniform look like?My mom uniform changes with the seasons, but currently I've been wearing a basic t-shirt, skinny jeans, booties, and a statement coat.
Can’t Skip… 3 of 8What is one thing you never skip?I seriously can't leave the house without filling in my eyebrows! Being so fair-skinned, if I don't fill them in, I look sickly!
Hot Date! 4 of 8Quick! You have 5 minutes to get ready for a hot date with your husband. What's your quick fix for dressing yourself up?
Ha! I wish we'd go on more hot dates! When we do though, I find myself reaching for black and gold — usually a hot little black dress. Then I pick a few of my favorite gold accessories. If my hair is looking flat, I slick it back into a bun. To finish up, I'll dust my face with a little powder — to get rid of any shine. A little lipstick never hurts either.
Impractical But Pretty 5 of 8
What's the most impractical clothing item you own?I try really hard to only buy clothes that will be practical for me ... but shoes on the other hand can be my weakness!! They just look so pretty. When I see them at the store, they just call my name. So I compromise with myself and allow for one impractical shoe purchase every now and then.
Pulled Together and Organized 6 of 8
What makes you feel pulled together?
This might sound silly, but planning ahead makes me feel like I am with it! I can't stand being unorganized and frantic and unprepared...I'll usually spend a good chunk of time on Sundays preparing for the week. I get all my outfits together. I straighten up my room and work bag. I pack lunches. When I'm "with it," then I feel pulled together.
Child-Free Digging 7 of 8
If you had a child-free afternoon to shop, where would you go?Hands-down, I'd be at some sort of thrift or vintage shop! I really enjoy thrifting for unique pieces, but there is only so much digging you can do with two little kids. If I was solo, I bet I'd find some major treasures!
The Hardest Part 8 of 8
What's the hardest part about dressing as a mother? For me, it's all about functionality ... and looking stylish. But finding functional and stylish outfits can be tricky — very tricky. It's something that I'm still working on.
