10 Things Spring/Summer '14 New York Fashion Week Taught Me!Latonya Yvette
New York fashion week has ended, and it has done its purpose. I am left thinking, planning, and already excited for spring and summer 2014 and it isn’t even fall yet! I have already started planning little ways I can add some of the trends and styles into fall.
After a show, I always end up talking and talking to my friend about what I learned. And really, who knew fashion week could teach you so much? But it did! I left with more knowledge about my own style, about my client’s style, and about other people’s style, but more importantly what the heck everyone will be wearing next summer!

Trousers 2 of 11
Bright red lips 3 of 11
I am such a fan of bright red lips, and up until recently I switched out my red for pink for a few days. It seems as if, if you purchase nothing for spring and summer 2014, you HAVE to spend a few bucks on a bright red lip - at least.
Messy hair 4 of 11
Tie-up sandals 5 of 11
I remember sitting in a show and basically oohing and awing at the shoes more than the clothing. Sandals, high with ties.. all the way for SS14!
Tiny neck scarves 6 of 11
I have loved tiny neck scarves from the beginning of time. They're classic, and guess what? They're in! Etsy sellers always have the best choices.
Bombshell red dresses 7 of 11
Own the girly girl in you! 8 of 11
Like many, I am still talking about the DVF show and I did not even attend. I watched the show on the computer, and it was fantastic! Basically, I learned if you are girl, especially a girly girl, OWN it! It's beautiful!
The 60’s are alive.. still! 9 of 11
I love the 60's like every other girl, but this time Kate Spade taught us that a love so deep can get even deeper. As seen in the Kate Spade presentation.
When in doubt wear a suit 10 of 11
This go-around during New York fashion week, I learned that a woman in a tailored, funky, miss-matched suit is the absolute hottest. It sounds crazy I know, but it's so true. After seeing a show where suits were a major component, I felt the need to try my hand at it. Mine isn't at all "tailored" as I would like it, or how it's "supposed" to be, but I still felt great.
BIBS 11 of 11
Bibs, they aren't just for babies! Who knew? Apparently every designer at fashion week that's who! I learned that for SS14, bibs are a bold way to catch someone's eye.
