During the summer I refer to the community pool in our neighborhood as our “second home.” Last week there was a woman sporting a tiny (polka-dot!) bikini with visible stretch marks on her hips and thighs and a c-section scar peeking out of the waistband of her bottoms. She was having a blast splashing with her toddler, totally unconcerned with what she looked like. I kept looking over at her and thinking, “Now THAT is self-confidence.”
If you can pull off a tiny swimsuit with such aplomb then rock on. (Also, teach me?) I would venture to guess, however, that many of us are not at quite that level of self-assuredness and want something with a bit more stretch mark coverage. If your little ray of sunshine stole some of your swimsuit self confidence on his way out, take a look at these swimsuits for mom bods and see if you can’t regain a little of your beach mojo.

Pretty Peplum 2 of 12
Did your sweet little one leave a smidge of pudge hanging out under your belly button? Not to worry! I'm pretty sure that's exactly why peplums were invented. An awesome floral print just sweetens the deal.
Find it at Urban Outfitters for $105
Control Max! 3 of 12
Old Navy has a whole LINE of swimsuits with something called "Control Max." It's every bit as awesome as it sounds. I have the above swimsuit and I can tell you that it is very kind. A busy pattern also helps distract from lumps and bumps.
Find it at Old Navy for $29 on sale!
Drapey and Pink 4 of 12
Figure friendly swimsuits have come a long way since the skirted swimsuit my mom wore when we were young—even Victoria's Secret is in on the action! I love the criss-cross draping on this pink number. Plus, since it's from VS, you know your... girls (ahem)... are going to look amazing.
Find it at Victoria's Secret for $150
Belly Friendly Bikini 5 of 12
A bikini with good coverage sounds like an oxymoron BUT take a gander at this lovely. Bikini style in a super cute print but with belly coverage!
Find it at ASOS for $57.30 (top + bottom)
Beach Glamour 6 of 12
This swimsuit is so ridiculously glamorous. The top half looks like something you would see on Halle Berry at the Oscars.

Blue Bombshell 7 of 12
Retro-glam plus full coverage in a gorgeous jewel tone? Sold.
(Can I get her hair too, please?)
Find it at Nordstrom for $138
Surfer Chic 8 of 12
Rash guards are total surfer chic and they offer the benefit of all kinds of coverage. I have a black and white one I wear all the time (pale, with a family history of skin cancer, means I take all the coverage I can get) and women are always asking me where I got it. Side panels like on this Rip Curl one are super slimming.
Find it at Tactics for $34.95
Retro Boycut 9 of 12
Ruching covers up tummy troubles, boy-cut legs are perfect for shy thighs and black is always a good choice.
Find it at Anthropologie for $148
Pineapple Perfection 10 of 12
A dark color mixed with a pattern is great camouflage, but mostly this suit is just ridiculously cute. Plus the underwire gives great support up top!
Find it at J. Crew for $66 on sale!
Slimming Chevron 11 of 12
I own and adore this tankini. The chevron pattern is both distracting and slimming.
Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the awesomesness of tankinis? The coverage of a one-piece with the bathroom convenience of a bikini. Team Tankini forever!
Find it at DownEast Basics for $31.99
Create Your Figure! 12 of 12
An hourglass figure can be yours! The chevron pattern and cut of the patterned panels fakes an hourglass figure Marilyn herself would be envious of. Bonus: you can order this swimsuit in custom sizes and colors!
