5 Men's Fashions I Love for FallKayla Moncur
My husband runs his small business from our fourth bedroom, which means he goes to work most days in basketball shorts and a clean-ish t-shirt. Men’s fashion might as well be a foreign language to him. The boys and I are generally the only people he sees during the day, so there’s not much drive to put on things that don’t feature an elastic waistband.
Lately, however, his business has grown a bit, and he’s been having meetings outside our house more and more frequently. When this happens, he almost doesn’t know what to do with himself, because he’s SO out of the habit of dressing to impress. A couple months ago, he “hired” me as his image consultant (he pays me in back rubs) to help him look more pulled together when he meets up with clients.
I don’t keep an eye on men’s fashion quite the same way I do with women’s, so I had to really start looking for ideas for him. Here are some of my favorite looks I’ve collected as inspiration for my husband’s fall wardrobe.
I Can Dream… 1 of 6
My husband will still probably spend his winter in sweatpants, but I can dream!
Pink Shirt and a Pea Coat 2 of 6
My husband has a thing for pink, which means he's automatically favorably inclined toward anything that includes a pink shirt. I love the pink/gray combo here and pop of pattern from the classic plaid scarf.

Sport Coat and Jeans 3 of 6
My husband has been showing a sudden interest in obtaining a sport coat. He even went so far as to try a couple on the other night when we were out shopping. He hasn't committed yet, but I used this image to show him how he could wear one with jeans as well as the nicer pants he has in mind.

Leather Jacket 4 of 6
I never in a million years thought my husband would wear a leather jacket, but this image (and my recent obsession with all things leather) seems to have swayed him. We're on the lookout!

Elbow Patches 5 of 6
My goal for this fall is to get my husband into plaid (will probably never happen) and elbow patches (he's willing to try!). Pants that reach his shoes, though, are non-negotiable.

Colored Sweater 6 of 6
My husband is a devoted wearer of black/white/gray with a little dark blue thrown in for variety. The recent addition of a mustard sweater to his closet was monumental, especially since he bought it without my prompting! But now that he has it, he isn't quite sure what to DO with it. I love this layered look — he could totally pull this off!
