6 Ways to Change Up Your Basic T-Shirts

As a mom, there are a lot of basics in my closet jeans, flats, and solid colored t-shirts. But just because the pieces are basic doesn’t mean you have to wear them basically! I often wear my t-shirts in different ways, just to mix them up and add some variety and visual interest. Plus, it’s nice to know a few ways to glam them up a bit for date nights and events!

Try these 6 fun and easy ways to change up your basic t-shirts!

1. Basic Tee

I love basics, and this tee from Target is one of my favorites. It’s comfy, a good mix between oversized and nicely fitting, and it has a good v-neck.

2. Add a Collar

A removable collar gives a t-shirt a whole new feel. This one in particular, embellished with sparkles, makes a simple gray tee a little more fancy!

3. Tucked

A plain t-shirt can be dressed up super quickly when it’s paired with a pretty A-line skirt. Vice versa, the skirt can be dressed down with a basic tee. Either way, they’re a great pair for a semi-casual day. Add a cute pair of flats.

4. Half-Tucked

To change things up ever so slightly, and make a basic t-shirt look a little bit more flattering, structured, and intentional, I do the half tuck. Throw on a pretty necklace and some fun flats and you’re ready for a comfy, casual day!

5. Layered

A basic t-shirt can even be a great layering piece! Try layering it over a lightweight button up (a heavy weight one will make ugly bulges underneath a thin t-shir, so stick to the lightweight options) for a more structured and professional look.

6. Knotted

An easy way to change the look of a tee is by knotting it at the waist. It has the same basic effect as the half tuck, since it lifts the hem of the shirt a bit and elongates your legs. Plus, it adds dimension and texture!
