Add Pattern to Your Bump

I have a lot of solid dark colors in my wardrobe. Living in New York City where people hardly ever wear bright and bold colors, I stay within my comfort zone of black and grey. This is even more true now that I am pregnant. With my bump not the only thing on my body that is growing, those darker colors tend to hide everything that I want it to.

But with this being my third and final pregnancy, I told myself that I need to step out of my comfort zone and really enjoy all that it has to offer. I’ve taken some leaps when it comes to style this pregnancy and worn clothes that I would typically be too nervous to wear because of my insecurities. Rather than dwelling on my pregnancy imperfections, I am choosing to embrace them.

One way that I am stepping out of that comfort zone is by adding some patterns to my maternity wardrobe. I recently had a work event that I was a part of and rather than wearing my typical little black dress, I wore a gorgeous patterned dress that made me feel fashionable and comfortable with my growing bump.

  • Don’t Be Afraid to Add Patterns 1 of 6

I'll be the first to admit that I was scared to add anything with a pattern to my wardrobe. But after all of the compliments that I received that night, I would gladly wear it again. Even at seven months pregnant I still felt stylish and confident. This BCBGMAXAZRIA Short Sleeve Cap Sleeve Maternity Dress took me out of my comfort zone at first, but after wearing it once, it is now a go-to dress in my wardrobe.

  • Let it Flow 2 of 6

One of my favorite thing about this dress is the way that it flows down from the waist. I have gained a lot of my pregnancy weight in my hips and thighs and don't like anything that hugs around that area. This dress started flowing at the perfect spot making me feel absolutely fabulous!

  • Form Fitting Dresses Are a Do! 3 of 6

I was a little worried at first because this dress is so form fitting and I am usually one that likes looser fitting clothes, especially when I am pregnant. But this dress hugged in all of the right places and made me feel so fabulous on a special night when I was out with a lot of my friends.

  • It’s Okay to Accessorize 4 of 6

A lot of people think if you have a dress with a lot going on that you shouldn't add any accessories to it. I don't ever think of that as the case and think you should go with more subtle accessories to make the dress stand out. I have gotten so much use out of this necklace and love the way that it brings out the softer tones in the dress.

  • The Perfect Fit Before, During, and After Pregnancy 5 of 6

I absolutely loved the hemline on the middle of the dress. It didn't fit right underneath my bust, but rather towards the top of my belly making it drape perfectly. The way that this dress is fit, I know that I can definitely wear it long after baby is born.

  • Booties for Every Occasion 6 of 6

I bought these booties at the beginning of fall and have quickly fallen in love. They are so comfortable to wear and I've walked all around New York City in them. They look great with a dress, pair of jeans, or black pants. I love wearing booties with dresses and with this dress having so much going on, these black booties were the perfect simple match to pair with it.
