Get the Look: Holiday Outfit Inspiration for Toddler Girls

As a wardrobe stylist, my favorite style muse is my daughter Fern. Everything looks cute on little ones and their clothes are so much fun! So when it comes to the holidays, obviously it’s another excuse to play dress-up. And while the outfits should definitely be sparkly and festive, it’s important to consider practicality as well.

Below, you’ll find 3 holiday outfits worn by my daughter that are cute, comfortable, and also offer great layering potential depending on the temperature outside. After each outfit, I’ll show the individual pieces and where you can purchase, so be sure to click all the way through!

Hope this offers you a bit of holiday outfit inspiration for your little ladies!

  • Going To See Kris Kringle 1 of 15
3 Cute and Comfy Holiday Outfits For Little Girls

This is the outfit that Fern wore to see Santa. The skirt is totally festive for the holidays, but would be cute afterward as well. Same goes for the cozy red cardigan! Rain boots are totally practical and I love how they make the entire look more playful. Throw in a bit of pattern mixing with stripes and plaids and you've got a great holiday outfit that isn't overly fussy.

  • Plaid Sateen Skirt 2 of 15

Totally smitten with this skirt. It says it's sateen, so I expected it to be a shiny material when it arrived, which I figured would be okay for the holidays, but I was actually really pleased that it wasn't shiny at all. Now it can be worn more easily throughout the year. Also, kids skirts tend to run small, so I always size up. My daughter is a 2T, but I ordered a 4T. It fit very well and now it will be better option for her to grow into.

Every little girl needs a cozy red cardigan in her wardrobe and this one is so classic.

  • Kid Sailor Stripe Long Sleeve Pullover 4 of 15

The top my daughter is wearing in the photo is actually a dress from Gap, but they don't sell it anymore. (That's also a good way to get more use out of your toddler's wardrobe! Layer skirts over dresses and use them as blouses!) This top from American Apparel would work just as well.

Purchase for $29 from American Apparel

  • Knit Tights 5 of 15

These H&M tights will work with any of the outfits that I posted. We have them in a ton of different colors and they're great wardrobe staples.

    Purchase for $9.95 from H&M

  • Hunter "Original" Kids Rain Boots 6 of 15

Hunter boots are pricey, but they're a good investment if you live in a rainy climate. ( Like we do! Hello Portland, OR!) Fortunately, you can find gently used pairs on eBay quite often if you don't want to pay full price. My neighbor snagged mine for me at a rummage sale for $3! Score! You'll note that these are in another outfit below, so just consider this your link.

    Purchase for $75 from Nordstrom

  • Time To (Holiday) Party! 7 of 15

I just love this outfit. It's not overtly "Christmasy," but it's still great for holiday parties and family photos as it feels festive. I really like the mix of plaid and polka dots combined with the tomboy suspenders and jodhpur boots both add interest to the outfit and keep it from becoming over-the-top girly.

  • Pin Dot Skirt 8 of 15

This pin dot skirt is the same as the plaid one in the last outfit, which I loved so much that I had to order it in a different print too.

    Purchase for $8.99 from OshKosh

  • Plaid Long Sleeve Baby Doll Shirt 9 of 15

This shirt is really versatile and would be just as cute with jeans or leggings, but it's perfect tucked into this skirt as well. I love the subtle Peter Pan collar. I'm a sucker for Peter Pan collars on little girls' clothing.

    Purchase for $9.99 from OshKosh

  • Linen Suspenders 10 of 15

I'll admit that linen suspenders don't seem like something a toddler would be particularly fond of, but my daughter loves these!

Purchase for $34.00 from Fleur + Dot

  • Bobux Step-Up Jodhpur Boots 11 of 15

These are my favorite shoes in Fern's collection. They're super practical, but totally cute. They match with dresses, pants, leggings... everything! And they are great for little ones and their foot development, which is important to me since my girl is a bit pigeon toed.

    Purchase for $49.95 from Bobux

  • For Those Casual Get-Togethers 12 of 15
3 Cute and Comfy Holiday Outfits For Little Girls

This outfit is pretty casual, I'll admit, but not all holiday gatherings are dressy affairs. The hunter green lends itself to a festive vibe, but this outfit is all "kid." And I'm a sucker for these little overall jumpers.

  • Heart Print Jumper 13 of 15
Get the Look: Holiday Outfit Inspiration for Toddler Girls

The OshKosh overall jumper is a childhood classic. I'm pretty sure I had one as a kid, so obviously my daughter needed one too!

    Purchase for $17 from OshKosh

  • Caramel Baby & Child Austen Sweater 14 of 15
Get the Look: Holiday Outfit Inspiration for Toddler Girls

This cozy green sweater offers a little more warmth than just a t-shirt under the jumper, but it's still thin enough that your child won't get too hot.

Purchase for $58 from Fawn Shoppe

  • Grey Knit Cardigan 15 of 15
Get the Look: Holiday Outfit Inspiration for Toddler Girls

A little grey cardigan offers an extra layer of warmth and texture, but it can easily be shed depending on the temperature.

    Purchase for $15.99 from OshKosh
