13 Stylish Ways to Rock a Statement Necklace

Statement necklaces are a trend that each season seems to get bigger and more popular. I have a few theories as to why this is. The first is that women love things that sparkle. I’m sure there’s some kind of really scientific research to prove this. Second, statement necklaces frame the face and bring the eye to the window of our souls. Lastly, they are one of those accessories, like big sunglasses and poppy scarves, that instantly bring style to any outfit. If you haven’t gotten on the statement necklace train yet, or if you’re looking for more ways to wear the ones already in your closet, we‘ll show you a variety of ways to wear one. And with all this information, how you choose to wear yours is entirely up to you.

1. Paired with a Classic Dress

Necklace is available at & Apparel for $18.50 / Dress is available at Boden USA for $88.80 / Sandals available at Shoe Dazzle for $39.95

This first look is the most simple and obvious way to wear a statement necklace. The dress is classic, with clean lines, which let’s the necklace stand out. Little black dresses, T-shirt dresses, and other similar frocks almost make the necklace look like a collar or detail sewn onto the dress. They look like a perfect pair — always meant to be worn together.

2. Paired with a Casual Tee

Going the casual route with a statement necklace can feel a little more adventurous. Will it seem overdressed if you wear it to the grocery store or even to tea with some friends? I confidently would like to offer a resounding, “No!” It can pull your whole outfit together and make you feel ready to take on even the busiest of days. And if by chance you run into an old friend or an old flame, you’ll be glad you threw this charming accessory on.

3. Paired with a Button-Up Shirt

This look is one of my favorites. I love the sophistication and hipness a necklace brings to a buttoned up shirt. I especially enjoy mixing patterns and textures to make an outfit that is uniquely mine. When you have fun with what you’re wearing, it can’t help but show. Using creative pairings can also help tailor an outfit for a specific occasion with just the right amount of comfort or glam.

4. Go with Pearls for a Timeless Look

Statement necklaces don’t have to look trendy. This look shows how they can be classic and timeless. These pearls could go on a woman of any age; it’s a middle ground for a mature women, and for a younger wearer, it ads a little refinement. This conservative option is also perfect for work environments. (Not to mention the ballet flats, pearls, and skinnies would make Audrey Hepburn proud.)
