One of the Pantone colors for fall is called SAMBA! It’s basically just red, but the fact that it’s called SAMBA! makes me happy. As I was looking for red pieces in my closet I kept pulling stuff out and saying, “Aaron! My closet has some SAMBA!” And he just sort of shook his head because he’s a guy and red is red and also he thinks (knows) that I’m crazy.
Anyway, I love that designers pulled such a bright color into their fall collections. Fall and winter so often call for black and gray and, as much as I love black and gray, it gets dull. A dash of SAMBA! helps liven things up pretty quickly!
I own a few red pieces, including a wool Pendleton blazer (a thrift store find), Gap pants (that I got many years ago and wear all the time), and a pair of red Adidas sneakers (little boys section at Marshalls). Just enough to get me on board with the trend this fall!
Here’s how I’ll be working SAMBA! into my outfit rotation whenever it finally cools down:
Black SAMBA 1 of 8
Red pants can be very LOOK AT ME but when you pair them with a black tee and moto jacket they become much more laid-back cool and perfect for colder temps.
Sweater SAMBA 2 of 8
Red can be a really cozy color. It pairs well with sweaters and moccasin boots! Just make sure you tuck your pants INTO your boots. Like I forgot to do.

Chambray + SAMBA 3 of 8
A chambray top and colored pants is one of my fav looks. It's a fun reversal to the standard jeans and a tee! Take your chambray and colored denim into fall with a leather jacket and moccasins (I'm obsessed. Can't quit them.)

SAMBA and SAMBA 4 of 8
Go ahead and be a little matchy! Pair a red blazer with red sneaks. A small print pattern helps break up the look a bit.

SAMBA + Sequins 5 of 8
Fall and winter bring all kinds of different parties. How about pairing that SAMBA! with some sequins?
SAMBA Sneaks 6 of 8
Batwing SAMBA 7 of 8
A bat-wing cardigan (in a trendy tribal print!) is a fun fall transition piece. Red sneaks add a fun pop of color to a comfy errand-running ensemble.

SAMBA on my lips 8 of 8
If you want to try Samba in a low-commitment sort of way, go with red lipstick! If you decide halfway through the day that it's not working for you just dab it off, swipe on some chapstick, and no one will be the wiser. ELF has some super affordable shades if you need a wallet-friendly option!
