I’m absolutely guilty of exiting through the gift shop when I visit a museum, especially during the holidays. I love museum stores for their interesting books, beautiful jewelry and children’s toys. When my son was little, I remember getting him the coolest puzzles and marionettes from the Met and the Guggenheim, and many of my friends have gotten their favorite prints, books, and home decor as gifts in the past years.
I put together a list of art museum stores to choose from as an alternative to the mall or larger online shopping sites. Of course, it’s not an extensive list, as there are too many museums to add into one post. However, I found a few favorites that I have shopped at myself and can say they have lots of beautiful finds (jewelry, scarves, clothes) for your loved ones or yourself this holiday day season. The biggest perk for me when it comes to shopping at museums is that it helps keep the museums and their programming going. It’s a great way to support these amazing institutions.
