Turn a Tunic into a T-Shirt in 3 Easy Steps!

tunic2tee

Have you ever accidentally shrunk one of your favorite articles of clothing? Yeah, me too — you’re looking at it! What was once a great tunic/dress became a far too short dress in a matter of minutes. It was too short to wear without jeans and too long to wear with them. It sat in my closet for over a year and I was about to throw it in the Goodwill pile when I had an idea to just make it shorter and turn it into a tee! Why didn’t I think of that a long time ago?! After just 15 minutes it was back in action, totally wearable and back in my current rotation!

If you have a dress or tunic that’s in the awkward “too short but at the same time not long enough” stage, here’s a quick and easy fix!

Supplies:

-Tunic or dress
-T-shirt for measuring
-Scissors
-Sewing machine

Here’s how to do it:

1. Fold the tunic in half. Fold your favorite t-shirt in half too and line up the arms, neck, and middle as best you can.

2. Cut one inch below the hem of the t-shirt.

3. Pin the edge up, making a 1″ hem and sew a straight line along the bottom.

It doesn’t get much easier than that! I’m loving my new tunic turned tee.
