What to Wear: Interview AttireJeanette Scott
Interview attire can be one of the hardest style challenges to tackle. After all, what you wear is a powerful form of nonverbal communication, and a first impression is made before you ever say a word. No need to stress though – here are all the tips you need to dress to impress and land your perfect job!

Let Your Skills Take Center Stage 2 of 7
In a job interview your personality, your skills, and YOU should shine through and take center stage, not your clothes. Stick to a neutral palette and save the super-creative, cute outfit for the first day on the job.
1. Get the look from J.Crew for $240
2. Get the look from Limited for $158
3. Get the look from Tahari for $63.74 on sale
Conservative but Fun 3 of 7
That said, including one colorful piece - like a pair of shoes or blazer - is totally fine (depending on the industry). It's okay to show some personality just keep the majority of your outfit conservative.
1. Get the look from Nine West for $48.74 on sale
2. Get the look from Express for $69.90
3. Get the look from Banana Republic for $198
Dress Code Musts 4 of 7
Collared Shirt or Blazer 5 of 7
Interview dress codes vary widely between industries, but no matter where you interview, it's better to err on the side of being too dressed up than not dressy enough though. I recommend either a blazer or a collared shirt, but not necessarily both. When it's hot just a collared shirt will do, or if you wear a blazer, then a nice blouse with pretty much any neckline (sans cleavage) will work.
1. Get the look from Tahari for $108.99 on sale
2. Get the look from LOFT for $89.99
3. Get the look from Calvin Klein for $139
My Suit Strategy 6 of 7
I own one taupe/gray suit - a blazer and the matching skirt (pictured). I've never worn the two together, but I wear the pieces separately often. Still, it's good to consider buying both pieces, in case you ever need a full suit.
Bring a Portfolio 7 of 7
Bring a portfolio like this cute option (by Brahmin for $125) with a freshly printed copy of your resume inside, and a pen and paper to take notes.
Good luck on your interview!
