Hot Springs, Virginia
It may not be the most convenient place on earth, but it’s the only resort where kids can take falconry lessons. Buried in the Allegheny Mountains, The Homestead is a wonderland for active, outdoors-loving kids. During the day, families are invited to mountain bike, fly fish, ski, snow tube, snow shoe, ride horses, snow mobile, play tennis, enjoy carriage rides, go paintballing or skate on the on-site Olympic-sized ice rink. At night, they can cool down with bowling, billiards and movies in the indoor theatre. There’s also the standard golf/spa/tennis trifecta for adults. Rooms start at $175.
