Cutting the Red Tape: Making Cities Better With Code for America

The amazing new way for techies to help US cities.I was watching CNN this weekend (hey, it was on at the gym) and happened to see this amazing segment about the non-profit Code for America. Have you heard of it? It’s my favorite tech movement so far.

Modeled on successful efforts such as Teach for America, Code for America aims to help governmental agencies large and small change their computer programs and systems to be more efficient and effective. From their website:

Code for America aims to improve the relationships between citizens and government. We help governments restructure to create low-risk settings for innovation, engage citizens to create better services, and support ongoing competition in the govtech marketplace.

It’s amazingly cool. Check out the founder’s TED Talk below. She is the best of being a woman in tech.
