Everything You Want to Know About the New iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c

This week, Apple announced the launch of not just 1, but 2 new iPhones: the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. These are 2 different phones, similar but different.

All About The New iPhones

The iPhone 5s is the new and improved phone that Apple fans have been waiting for.  The iPhone 5c, which had been rumored to be in development, shined its face as the replacement to the current iPhone 5. Let’s get an in depth look at the features, price, and differences of each new iPhone.

Apple announced 2 new smart phones, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Here is your inside look to each!

Attempting to appeal to a larger audience with a more limited budget, Apple developed the iPhone 5c.

  • iPhone 5c Colors 3 of 16

One of the most obvious features of the iPhone 5c is the color.  No longer are you limited to just a black or white iPhone. The iPhone 5c comes in 5 colors.

  • iPhone 5c Price 4 of 16
    iphone5c-price

While the iPhone 5c is cheaper, it by no means is cheap if you are paying full price.

The iPhone 5c unlocked and contract-free from T-Mobile will cost $549 for 16GB and $649 for 32GB.  With a wireless service plan from AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon, $99 for 16GB and $199 for 32GB.

Yes, this is cheaper than the previous iPhone 5, but it by no means is as affordable as many of the Android devices are!

Your fingerprint is your password. The iPhone 5s sports Touch ID — a new fingerprint identity sensor. Your home button can read your fingerprint and unlock your phone. The phone will also support multiple fingerprints!

  • iSight Camera 10 of 16

One of my personal favorite new features is the the new iSight camera. As much as we use our phones as cameras, Apple took note and has given the 5s a great camera.

    • The new larger sensor offer larger pixels and aperture (aperture of f/2.2 which lets in more light.)
    • There is now a continuous burst mode allowing you to snap action shots, 10 photos per second.
    • True Tone flash is a white LED and amber LED that work with software algorithms to adjust the flash intensity and color temperature.
  • Facetime in HD 11 of 16

With a new Facetime HD camera, your video calls will be crisper than ever.

  • iPhone Size & Battery 12 of 16

How tall, how wide, how much does the iPhone 5s weigh? Here are the iPhone 5s stats:
    • Height: 4.87 inches (123.8 mm)
    • Width: 2.31 inches (58.6 mm)
    • Depth: 0.30 inch (7.6 mm)
    • Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams)

The iPhone 5s will allow for 10 hours of 3G talk time, and 10 hours of LTE browsing, 2 hours more than the previous iPhone.

  • A7 Chip 13 of 16
    a7

Let's talk nerdy. The Apple A7 chip makes the iPhone the first 64-bit smartphone. What's so special about the A7 chip and 64-bits? The CPU and graphics performance is up to 2x faster than the A6 chip (in the iPhone 5) giving you a super fast experience with amazing graphics.

  • M7 Coprocessor 14 of 16
    m7

Alongside the A7 chip is the M7 coprocessor. This is what is making your iPhone even smarter. The M7 coprocessor is designed specifically to measure motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. This will allow your phone to know when you are moving. This is what Apple says about it:

M7 knows when you're walking, running, or even driving. For example, Maps switches from driving to walking turn-by-turn navigation if, say, you park and continue on foot. Since M7 can tell when you're in a moving vehicle, iPhone 5s won't ask you to join Wi-Fi networks you pass by. And if your phone hasn't moved for a while, like when you're asleep, M7 reduces network pinging to spare your battery.

  • Ultrafast LTE 15 of 16
    ultrafast-lte

The iPhone 5s has up to 13 LTE bands, which means your phone will work in more areas around the world.

  • iPhone 5s Release Date 16 of 16

You will not be able to pre-order the Apple iPhone 5s like you can the iPhone 5c. In order to get your hands on one, plan on standing in line on September 20, 2013 at an Apple flagship store.

Apple made announcements about iOS 7 and several popular apps. iOS 7 will officially go live on September 18, 2013 (originally rumored to go live September 10, 2013.)  Read the Guide to Apple iOS 7Popular paid apps iPhoto, iMovie, Page, Keynote, and Numbers are now free of charge in the app store.
