How 21st Century Moms Should Use Technology

Getting more done in less time has been my motto since the birth of my second son this past March.  Life is definitely much more hectic, and I have resorted to heavily relying on my tech tools more than ever to keep bills paid, schedules straight, and my sanity intact.

Juggling everything from work and family, to household responsibilities, often leaves us too depleted to take care of ourselves. So it is time to be selfish and solidify a routine that will help us find the right balance that will work with our chaotic lives. For me, this is where technology comes into play. It helps me stay organized and more prepared to tackle my day. It balances out my life and allows me to carve some much needed me time.

So here is just some of what can be done to help simplify your life and find the right balance for you.

  • Invest in a smartphone 1 of 7

The smartphone (in my opinion), by far one of the best inventions ever created.  If utilized correctly, it will keep you organized and allow you to manage your life and that of your entire family, right from the palm of your hand.

  • Get everyone on the same page 2 of 7

Look into productivity apps such as Evernote, OneNote, Wunderlist, etc to create online notebooks and lists to share out with your family.  Also use Google calendar to keep everyone's appointments, school activities, etc in one place.

  • Only download apps you need 3 of 7

I know it is tempting to download apps for the kids, but your smartphone is your mobile headquarters.  Treat it as such. My phone is off limits to my kids. I have the apps I need to simplify my life. Grocery, productivity, coupon, and drugstore apps are all available to make life more manageable.

  • Switch to online banking 4 of 7

Online banking allows you to schedule automatic payments to make your life easier and guarantee you do not miss any due dates. If you have the option, go paperless statements, and cut back on the time you spend opening and sorting through your mail.

  • Always stay informed 5 of 7

It is imperative to stay informed of what's going on in technology, especially since our children are growing up in a digital world. Staying on top of the latest tech and social media trends are crucial to raising well informed and etiquette educated children. Lucky for you, you can get the daily newspaper delivered right to your phone.

  • Always unplug 7 of 7

As great as technology is and as wonderful as it is to get more done in less time, it is necessary turn the phone off and decompress. Spend time doing something you love.
