What to Expect From Next Generation iPad Announcement

In previous years, Apple has lumped all of its “iDevice” announcements in a single event. There was so much iPhone 5S and 5C information packed into the earlier September event, that Apple decided to give the upcoming iPad event its own…event.

The leaks have been coming and it’s safe to say that Apple has a ton of information to share during the upcoming event that’s sure to announce the 5th generation iPad and 2nd generation iPad Mini, as well as some cool Mac hardware and software. Here is what the web has been able to dig up.

The details behind Apple's latest event where we will see the latest iPad and iPad Mini take center stage.

  • Thinner iPad 5 2 of 10

Taking a page from last year's iPad Mini design, expect the next generation iPad to have a thinner profile now that Apple is putting the smaller Lightning connector in all of its mobile devices.

  • More Colors 3 of 10

I doubt if we will see the same colors that are found on the iPhone 5C on the iPads, but expect to see the darker "Space Gray" color found on the iPhone 5S added to the 5th generation iPad lineup.

  • Better Processor 4 of 10

Taking a page from the latest iPhone 5S, the 5th-Generation iPad will also sport a 64-Bit processor, which should give developers more incentive to create beautiful, graphics-heavy apps and gaming for the larger iPad screen.

  • Better Camera 5 of 10

While I still think people taking pictures and videos with their iPads look weird, people are still doing it. As a result, the latest iPads will come with better cameras. I like to edit movies and picture slideshows on my iPad, but transferring content from my iPhone to my iPad is a pain, so I can see why people would just rather shoot footage with their iPad...You still look funny, though.

  • Retina iPad Mini 6 of 10

If you passed on the 1st generation iPad Mini, you made a good bet as the number one request from Apple fans has been the addition of a high-resolution "Retina" iPad Mini. It looks as if Apple is going to grant users their wish and include the better display on the 2nd-generation Mini.

The tech rumor-mill has analyzed the official Apple event invite to death. The line "We still have a lot to cover" has been decoded to mean that Apple will unveil some sort of smart cover that will also double as a keyboard. Makes sense as most people who do any extended typing on an iPad quickly run out and buy a Bluetooth Keyboard. It's only right that Apple enter that market as well.

  • Mac OS X "Mavericks" 8 of 10
Next Gen iPad - Mac OSX Mavericks Dual Monitor Support via

Similar to the $20 upgrade to Mac OS X "Mountain Lion", Apple will finally announce availability of its new "Mavericks" operating system for its computer lineup, that incorporates multi-display support and blurs the line between the Apple's computer (OSX) and mobile (iOS) software.

  • New Mac Pro Availability 9 of 10

Speaking of desktops, the Apple's Mac Pro computer lineup hasn't been refreshed in a long time. Earlier this year, Apple announced its new trash-can shaped desktop computer. Expect Apple to announce pricing and availability for the new Mac Pro computer at this event as well.

Digging deep into the rumors and gossip, we could possibly learn about a spec upgrade to the Mac Mini computers and the Apple TV box, but don't hold your breath.
