10 Bizarre Toddler Hats

By Roni |

I don’t think there’s anything cuter than a big hat on a toddler head. Baseball caps, knit hats with the ball on top, beanies, all super adorable and fun on little heads.

I never, ever, thought I’d see an ugly hat on a kid until now. Some of these are hideous, some could be considered cute (I guess, you’ll have to let me know) and some are just down right weird.

Maybe my cuteness levels are off?

Who knows, but these are all bizarre to me…

Hahaha, that bumblebee hat is hilarious.
I must say I am quite a bit of a fan of quirky toddler hats, though not that quirky! Just wrote a piece on my blog about my favourite Etsy hats last week. Check it out here:
I can’t decide which is cutest: The dino or the racoon?

My girls have some pretty cute toddler hats – I’m a fan of hats… but not these ones! Especially the axe hat! Who in the right mind would seriously put that on a child! I have seen the reindeer ones that are super cute – but I don’t like the big ball on the top for the nose… has some pretty cute hats too!!!

if anyone knows anything about toddlers they like playing dress up (my son 2.5 does) and these hats tease their immagination. Also for those of you who don’t knit or crochet, there are plenty of non-itchy options of yarn for the precious toddler skin. :) yay for creativity! yay for “weird” and different! Oh and by the way the hat with the “beard” is HILLARIOUS! my son would get a kick out of that. Plus I’m pretty sure that hat would come in handy for people who live amongst the icy winds. :)
Thank you for posting! I enjoyed the photos.

Roni~ I DO agree with you about the “Axe In Head” photo. not seeing the humor there.

Ok, some of these hats were really adorable! The “Point Taken” one was so cute to me because it reminded me of something out of the Wizard of Oz (Think , the Lullaby League) I also think the Beard hat was really freakin cute in a weird “aww, that’s so weird” sort of way. A good way.. Yet, I must say, some of these were insanely weird, others downright inappropriate. The “Lion’s Fro” hat looked more like the fro from ANNIE and less like a lion. And the Green/Orange Fire Hydrant one made me think “Um…I don’t want a dog coming up to her and peeing on her head, does the parent?” The Pink Cowboy hat was so creepy because it reminded me of those Toddlers in Tiaras show, which I think is downright abusive. Now, I know I might get freaked out by this, but I think the axe in the head one was kinda cool…I have mixed emotions, babies + dramatic “death” like costumes really freak me out and make me have bad visions that make me want to be sick. Yet, it IS a joke, and because it is so inappropriate, it’s almost funny. I might think if it was for Halloween it would be super funny in a “what the hell?” sort of way.

You know, now that I look at the last photo, I don’t think that hat was intended for a child to wear, hence the fact that a doll is modeling it. I think it was supossed to be a cheap laughable form of irony against modern toy baby dolls and how creepy they can look sometimes, the artist probably thought making the doll creepier would be funny. I deffinately do not think the picture was intended to be posted on an article regarding Whimsical Toddler Hats.

A couple of those were super cute I’d totally put the beard hat on my little guy, but it’s beyond me as to why a parent would want to put a hat that looks like an axe is sticking out of their child’s head on it in the first place. My son has some adorable hats, including a batman cowel a gnomb hat and a tomato I just love them

  8. Nadia says:

LOL the ‘hydrant head’ one is not a fire hydrant at all. It’s a katamari. Just sayin’

  9. Wendy says:

I had the hat in the 1st pi for both my girls. Everyone said it reminded them of Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch. I loved those hats.
