10 Easy, Eco-Friendly Ways for Moms to Pamper ThemselvesEmily McClements
Being a mama, especially a mama of a toddler, is a hard job. It requires so much time, energy, and sacrificing of our own needs on a daily basis. In fact, I think sometimes as moms, it’s really easy for us to lose ourselves in our kids and our family, and neglect to make an effort on, or take time for, ourselves.
But, it is really important to take care of ourselves as moms. It helps us to feel better about ourselves, which in turn can help us to be better moms.
Just the other morning, I had a few minutes to myself while my hubby dropped my daughter off at school. He had taken my son with him too, so I was all alone in the house, and was trying to figure out what I should do with my precious minutes of quiet time.
Because it wasn’t a big chunk of time, I decided to try a quick natural nail care idea I had recently read about. It took me less than five minutes to make the recipe, rub it into my hands and nails, push my cuticles back, and file my uneven nails into a nice shape.
I realized just how much taking that five minutes of time to do something quick and easy for myself made such a difference in my day. My hands looked really nice for the first time in a while, and my skin felt nice and soft, a welcome change after being dry and cracked all winter. And I’ve continued to take better care of my hands and have been enjoying the benefits of those few minutes of pampering since then.
Taking time to pamper yourself can sometimes seem like an overwhelming thing. You might feel like you need to have at least an hour of uninterrupted time, or some special pampering products that cost an arm and a leg. But really, there are lots of great and easy ways to take care of, and pamper, yourself on a regular basis that only take a few minutes of time, use items or ingredients you probably already have in your home, and are all-natural and eco-friendly at the same time.
Here are a few simple ideas for easy and natural ways for moms to pamper themselves:

Fresh Flowers 3 of 10Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate, brighten your day, and your home, than to buy yourself some fresh, in-season flowers? Fresh flowers always lift my mood and make me smile. My favorite place to buy flowers is at the Farmer's Market, because I know the flowers are as fresh and local as they can get.

Unique Homemade Solid Perfume 6 of 10I've given up regular perfume since learning of the dangers of the fragrances and ingredients, and there are definitely times I miss it. I love the idea of creating a personal, signature scent solid perfume, and I especially love the idea of putting it into a vintage locket. A little bit of romance does a mama good!

Dress Up/Accesorize Your Outfit 7 of 10One of my resolutions this year was to get dressed every morning. Sometimes as mamas we can fall into a rut with our clothes, especially if we stay at home/work at home. It's especially fun to get dressed up every once and a while, just because, and adding simple accessories to an outfit can take it from boring to something special. Be sure to shop your own closet first and use items you already have. And then if you'd like to add to your wardrobe check out thrift and consignment stores to save money and be kind to the earth at the same time.

Use the Oil Cleansing Method 9 of 10It may sound counter-intuitive, but I actually wash my face with oil. The Oil Cleansing Method has done amazing things for my skin, eliminating my breakouts and dry, patchy, red skin, and leaving my skin softer and smoother, and even making my fine lines less noticeable! And at night when I wash my face, I feel like I'm giving myself a quick mini-spa treatment.

Take Time to Read for Pleasure 10 of 10Finding quiet moments to just sit and read may seem hard to do with a toddler running around, but losing yourself in a good book, whether a novel or non-fiction, can help you to relax, unwind, and keep your mind active and healthy. Borrow books from the library, or download books on an e-reader, and take time to read if for no other reason than "just because".
