It’s no secret that I hate dinosaurs.
I mean, if we’re being accurate, it’s that I am TERRIFIED of dinosaurs and I think we can all thank my Uncle Kevin for that. When I was 9-years-old, he took me to see Jurassic Park and we sat in the second row. The first time the T-Rex roared, I was a goner. Done. Finished. Dinosaurs were forever on my sh*t list, to put it mildly.
My friends have had great fun with this for years – buying blow-up dinosaurs to greet me at their front doors, buying Harry dino onesies and pajamas and books. My husband let it slip to our toddler that Momma was afraid of dinosaurs and ever since then, Harry asks if we can read his “scary dinosaur book” and then laughs hysterically. Because even a 3.5-year-old understands how ridiculous the fear is because dinosaurs are extinct.
OR ARE THEY?! is what I ask. HAVE YOU NOT SEEN JURASSIC PARK?!
Needless to say, I get incredible joy over the new trend of mocking dinosaurs. Yesterday on Zulily, there was an entire slew of shirts for toddlers dedicated to mocking dinosaurs. Yep, I think I will need a few of these:
