With 4 kids, 2 of which are toddlers (that out eat our older 2 kids!), saving money on groceries in any way possible sounds fabulous. So, I’ll admit it. After watching the show, Extreme Couponing, I was destined to be like one of those crazies that save money like mad using coupons.
I bought the newspaper, clipped coupons for hours and then researched the Internet on what the best deals were. After heading to the grocery store, I was determined to save money. Except, I forgot my coupons. I wish I could say that when I remembered my coupons that I saved tons of money, but that would be a lie. The stuff I ended up with was not used and after buying the typical groceries that I buy, I didn’t save money —well not like those people on TV had!
While couponing may work well for your family, for ours it just ended up being a big huge mess and time suckage. Neither of which we need any more of in this house. While I may not be saving hundreds of dollars a month, I have found a few tips that do help save money and don’t take a ton of time. I hope you find these useful!
5 Ways to Save Money on Groceries Without Cutting Coupons
Don’t Go To the Store Hungry 1 of 5There is nothing that makes you want to buy food than a growling stomach. Eat before you grocery shop.
Pick Up a Grocery Ad as You Walk in the Store 2 of 5By simply buying what's on sale, you can save significantly. Maybe instead of strawberry smoothies this week, you make peach smoothies because peaches are on sale. Adapt and enjoy a few extra dollars in your pocket.
Buy Generic 3 of 5I use to be a brand snob, and then I had kids. The majority of items, with the exception of things like toilet paper and paper towels - we are open to using the generic brand. Not generic friendly? Give it a try and see if you can seriously taste a major difference!
Sign Up for a Store Card 4 of 5I seriously hate brand loyalty cards, but I do love saving money. Those little plastic cards the store wants you to sign up for is what I am talking about. While they maybe a pain to keep up with - some stores let you use your phone number rather than having to have the actual card. Check with your store, some stores allow you to load coupons on to your card virtually.

Mobile Coupons 5 of 5Here is the deal, I said no cutting coupons - but I didn't say no coupons! Stores such as Target, are now offering mobile coupons. You download the app, show the cashier the coupons - they scan it - BOOM, you save.
