A Sign From The Universe: We're DONE With The Night-Time Training Pants.Naomi Odes
I’ve mentioned before that I think pull-ups are kind of a conspiracy. I really do think they delay potty training. They’re glorified diapers. That doesn’t mean I haven’t used them. In fact, we’ve been using one every single night for close to a year. When my toddler became day-time potty-trained, we switched to the training pants/pull-ups at night.
For the last several months, he mostly wakes up with a dry pull-up, only every once every five or six days it’s wet. So we’ve really just been lazy about ending the training pants affair.
Well, last night we slept in a hotel and when Shnook woke up in the morning, he ran to the bathroom to pee…but couldn’t pull his pants down fast enough. The pull-up got stuck (when pulling down…hmmmm).
Quite frankly, it was the saddest thing I’ve seen in a while. He was really upset about it. To me, this was a giant red flag waving.
Time to pull the plug on the pull-ups.
So tonight, we went to sleep with underpants. I made the bed twice with a rubber sheet between, and he peed right before he got into bed.
I’ve heard we should wake him before we go to sleep to pee again. Any other suggestions for how to get through the night pee-free?
We’re hoping for the best.
P.S. I dare you not to laugh at those giant underpants in the photo.
