A Toddler on Vacation!Emily Malone
We’ve made it all the way from Seattle to South Carolina! We survived a cross-country flight and a road trip with both a toddler and an infant, and it has all been worth it to see my little fish laughing and splashing around in the surf. We’re in Hilton Head Island this week spending time with my husband’s family and soaking up our last big vacation as a family of three before our new arrival.
We’ve been here about 36 hours, and we’ve already hit the beach, the pool, and the bike trails. Cullen is on zero schedule—waking up late, missing naps, and staying up until well past dark. But that’s what vacations are for, right? We’re just going with the flow and taking it easy. We have a whole week, so there is no pressure to over-plan or try to do too much all at once.
I came to this exact spot as a child for many years, so it’s really special for me to see my son running around in the same sand, and it brings back so many wonderful family memories. It’s also really nice to be able to have Casey’s family become part of the new memories I’ll take with me when we leave here. What can I say, the beach makes me a sap.
We are looking forward to lots of splashing, plenty of swimming, and hopefully very few jellyfish stings. (Yikes, they are everywhere!) This trip is sort of our final hurrah before our new baby comes, and it’s special to have this time for just us three.
Looking forward to a wonderful week with family!
