Abby the Baby Whisperer & Survival Expert

Pondering how to jump the fence.

Abby LOVES babies. Baby dolls, girl and boy legos  – basically any toy resembling a human automatically gets dubbed, “Baybeee!!!'” and this is said with such glee.

When she gets around a baby in human form? It’s as if she’s just been awarded with all of the cookies, ice cream, and shiny clips in the world. All the tutus in the world and outdoor space she could dream of (some of her other current favourites). She is at once gentle, adoring and in seventh heaven, content to play and act the nurturing mama.

The only thing that she might like more is playing outside. She WILL throw a tantrum at having to come inside and WILL run away from anything resembling an adult at lightening speed.

She’s a natural with babies, that’s for sure…must be hereditary. I’ve been told I was the same way – and it never left me. I went from an adoration and obsession with babies when I was still a toddler myself, to being the one that parents would let play and take care of their little kids in the playground to being the neighborhood block babysitter far before I probably should have been. Ah, the 80’s.

Parents were so edgy, so risque. Leaving their kids with a 12 or 13 year old babysitter for the night was the norm. Not so much now.

Right, back to Abby and her Baby Whispering ways and her mad Wilderness Survival Skills. On a long-overdue visit to see a friend of mine, her daughters and her newest (holy crap this baby is C.U.T.E.) addition, Abby got her fix of playing with a real live baby and running amok outside. I guess now I’m going to have to get her one of those Baby Alive monstrosities for Christmas and invest in a really good snowsuit. At any rate, adorable pictures up ahead…

Neither of them one. They just ended up giggling and hugging and kissing each-other. And poking at each-others eyes and noses. As one does.
