An iPad and These 2 Apps Makes a Happy Toddler

mickey moust club house appWhile I totally believe in physical play, I have no qualms giving my toddler an iPad to play with, especially in circumstances where they’d be sitting (or suppose to be sitting) for long periods of time “MOMMY! MOMMY!” like in a car, a doctor’s office waiting room, a restaurant – you get the gist.  My kids, both little and big love their technology!

I am always on the look out for good toddler apps that provide engagement and some type of educational aspect, more than you know killing green pigs (love you Angry Birds, but not so much for my toddlers!).  2 new apps that we are loving are based on hit Disney TV shows, Mickey Mouse Club House Road Rally and Jake’s Never Land Pirate School.  Both are filled with Disney characters that your toddlers will recognize, fun interactive activities and are FREE!

Mickey Mouse Club House Road Rally

Our 2 year old, Izaiah is slightly obsessed with Mickey Mouse and the Mickey Mouse Club House tv show. So introducing him to this app required no work on my part.  The app opens with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song – so right away, Izaiah was instantly engaged. He knows the song and has a little dance he does to it.

The app is easy to use and was very clear for him to understand what to do. Through-out the app your child is engaged and asked to do certain thing such pull a lever, or talk to the app – providing interactivity as well as educational components, but all wrapped up in fun like Disney is awesome at doing.

This app is free and available for the Apple ipad.

Jake’s Never Land Pirate School

jakes never land pirate schoolJake’s Never Land Pirate School App features characters and locations from the Jake and the Never Land Pirates TV show. While my 2 year old enjoyed the graphics and pushing various buttons, it’s geared for toddlers 3 years and up.  Funny enough, without me even telling my 7-year old about it, he found it on my Apple iPad and played it until he completed all the pirate classes.

In the app, you can go through various pirate school classes with Jake and his crew to earn Badges of Honor and and an Official Never Land Pirate Certificate.

This app free and available for the Apple iPad, iPad and iPod Touch.
