Five Reasons to Choose Cork Floors

The kitchen is truly the heart of my home.

It’s command central for meals, of course, but also for homework, board games around the breakfast table, and the occasional dance party. It’s where we spend most of our at-home waking hours, and it’s seen its share of lively activity with 3 kids and 2 dogs.

One of the first things people notice about our home is the kitchen floors. They’re cork— not a material I would have chosen but one that I’ve really grown to love.

Here are 5 things I love about my cork floors. Would you consider putting them in your home? Tell me in the comments!

Durability- Cork floors are among the most durable options out there. I read that if maintained properly they can easily last 40 years!

Beauty- My floors look great, and cork comes in a variety of styles and finishes depending on your home’s decor.

They’re easy to clean- Once cork floors are sealed they’re very easy to clean. I just sweep mine and take care of any spills immediately, then every couple of weeks or so I wipe it down with a gentle cleanser and a damp rag or sponge.

Comfort- Cork is great for my tired feet! And because they’re so soft, not only do I not worry as much about my kids falling and getting seriously hurt, but they provide natural insulation too.

They’re eco-friendly- The cork extraction process doesn’t require killing the tree and it’s self-sustaining.

As you can tell, I’m a cork convert! I never would have thought about installing it but have really loved having it in my home.
