7 Creative Indoor Activities For Toddlers

By Emily |

I don’t know about you, but where we live it is so stinkin’ HOT!  It’s pushing 95+ degrees and the heat index is well over 100.  We’re not really used to this kind of heat, and honestly, I don’t even want to go outside.

We played outside for a little while this morning, in the kiddie pool and watering the garden, before it got too hot. But, now we need to spend the rest of the day inside.

I’m usually not a big fan of letting my kids watch too much TV, but the past few days they’ve been watching more than their fair share.  So I’ve decided that I need to get creative and give them some fun indoor activities before their brains turn to mush.

Today my kids were having tons of fun playing with cardboard boxes.  They made houses for their dolls, drew all over them with markers, and even glued together a cotton ball tower on one of the boxes.  Then they got out the dress-up clothes and played “beach”.  Kinda ironic.

Here are some other great creative activities for toddlers using stuff you probably already have on hand around your house.

What’s your favorite indoor activity for your kiddos when it’s too hot to play outside?

We’re stuck inside for the opposite reason here in Western WA, rain. Thanks for the ideas. We do a lot of reading, art/crafts and baking to keep busy. I don’t know the age of your kids, but Lindsy at PreschoolAlphabet.blogspot has a lot of fun learning activities and crafts too. Thanks again! – Jess (at) OlyMomma
