A mom watches her daughter play on the beach with another little girl. After an hour, the mom wants to go but can’t seem to locate the other little girl’s parents. She alerts a lifeguard and the police are called.
What happened? Who was this girl?
The little girl who was left at the beach was 2-years-old. She had been on a trip to a state park with Our Little Darlings Day Care. Somehow the toddler managed to find her way to the beach which is several blocks from where the day care outing took place.
To make bad turn to worse, the police were alerted about the missing toddler at 3:15 pm. The day care doesn’t call the police asking about the missing girl until 6:21 pm. For 3 hours, what was the day care doing? Did they even know the toddler was missing?
This is what I have nightmares about when thinking about my kids being in the care of someone caring for 10+ additional kids. (side note: I’ve been a daycare mom, totally not opposed to kids in day care. It’s stories like this that just scare me.) The little girl was returned to her mother (who by this time was frantic after just finding out that her daughter had gone missing) just after 7 pm.
Our Little Darlings Day Care’s license is now suspended.
