Do You Read Bedtime Stories? [Video]Danielle
Books are everywhere in my house. Bedrooms, play room, my bedroom… My kids have a serious love for books which I love as a parent. Honestly, I don’t think they can have a healthier obsession with anything!
We typically do stories at bedtime. I find that it is a great way to help them relax for the night and get ready to actually go to sleep. I also noticed they fight sleep much less after a bedtime story!
But I really think starting children out by reading young helps to create youngsters who will always have a love for reading. Because I am an example of it!
When I was young… as far back as I can literally remember, my father would always read to me at bedtime. As I got older and learned to read, I would read to him and we would switch things up. We read so many awesome books over the years that it has been such an amazing childhood memory for me. The entire Narnia collection, The Lord of the Rings collection, and even the Babysitters Club. My poor father!
So I am really trying to keep that type of family tradition going with my own children in hopes that they pick up my own love of reading all kinds of different books.
A while back when I was still pregnant with my daughter Addison who is not 4 months old, I made a video of my oldest son reading me a bedtime story which still to this day melts my heart every time I look the video up on Youtube and watch it.
The favorite in our house right now is the I Don’t Want to Go to Bed. Which my three year old is reading back to me in the video below. I promise, it is a really cute book for kids!
Ok… now for the heart melting video!
