Easter Egg Hunting With Toddlers

Last week, our playgroup and a few other friends hit the park up for a good ole Easter egg hunt! Our group ended up consisting of around 25 moms and over 40 kids ranging in age from 0 to 5 years old. While that may seem overwhelming, the mom organizing the event was very clever in how the event played out.

For each kid that was participating in the Easter egg hunt, we brought a dozen eggs filled with non-candy (YAY!) goods. We filled our eggs with temporary tattoos and stickers.

Upon arriving at the park, there were 2 large buckets – 1 for dumping eggs for ages 0-2.5 and then another for 3 years and up. We brought all the kids to the soccer fields next to the playground to run around like crazy, while a few moms snuck off and hid Easter eggs on the playground.

The older kids started their egg hunt on the playground, while that was happening – the moms laid the eggs on the soccer field for the younger kids. This was more of a grab any egg, than a hunt which was perfect for the younger ones.

Overall, it was a total success. Here are a few photos from the event.

This little girl kept sweeping up his eggs. My boy was smart though, he may have started stealing from her basket.

Zeke tried his best to grab the eggs.

These may have been partially stolen eggs and I may have been throwing them out of his basket as soon as he bent down to pick another egg up.

My kids enjoyed finding rocks as much as eggs. Guess we should go to the park more.

Had to stop Izaiah from going thru this lady's diaper bag in search of eggs.
