Every toddler mama knows that snacks are an absolute necessity when you are toting toddlers around! Even if they just ate a large meal, it’s almost inevitable that within minutes of leaving the house, or arriving at a destination, a snack will be requested.
One of my kids’ favorite ways to eat snacks is to dip them in some kind of yummy dip. It’s also a great way to get them to eat healthy foods, like veggies, that they may not otherwise be so excited to eat.
While I love to serve snacks and dip to my kids at home, it can be tricky to figure out how to make it into a portable snack without being too messy. But, I recently came across an easy way to bring snacks and dip with us when we’re on the go.
I reuse containers that I already have to create an easy and portable snack holder. A single serving yogurt cup fits perfectly inside a saved sour cream or yogurt container and keeps the dip contained, while creating space along the outside for whatever snack you’re bringing along to do the dipping – carrots, fruit or veggies, pretzels, etc.
Some of our favorite snack and dip combinations are: hummus with crackers, pita, or veggies; carrot sticks with ranch; yogurt fruit dip with apples; or peanut butter with pretzels or apples.
So, the next time you’re searching for a healthy on-the-go snack for your toddler, put together this easy snack and dip container, and go out knowing you’ll have something great to offer your tot when they start to whine, “I’m huuuungry!”
