Emerging From the Fog

Oh, what’s that? I haven’t written on Babble yet in March?

I’m sorry, friends. I didn’t mean to leave you hanging with toddler yumminess or ten ways to use a toilet paper roll to create Easter craft magic. The past week has been crummy grey weather, and my mood has easily reflected it. Work has been both awesome and busy, which leaves me properly exhausted at the end of the day. Add to that stress over what to do in the next few months (such is the life of a freelancer!), but I think things are finally smoothing out.

We transitioned with the time change smoothly this time, and I think it’s because my little family craves the sunshine. To help smooth the transition, I scheduled two play dates and no nap yesterday, hoping to wear out the toddler so he’d be ready to be in bed an hour early (although technically the same bedtime at the new time). It worked well! A little sleep and sunshine has done wonders for us, so hopefully I’ll be back in action soon to bring you the Top Ten Ways to Make Your Toddler Poop Green for St. Patrick’s Day!

Here’s what else we’ve been up to:

  • This sums me up nicely 1 of 13
    This sums me up nicely
I'm not the best. I'm not the worst. But I'm pretty darn okay.
  • I have been miserable 2 of 13
    I have been miserable
I'm not going to sugar-coat it - the past two weeks have been hard on me emotionally and mentally and there were several days where I wanted to curl up in a ball and disappear. Thankful to have made it out.
  • One of those moments 3 of 13
    One of those moments
where my camera and the light made magic. We took Harry to the park and wandered down to the pond. I had on heels from work, so I stayed up and simply watched my boys. I love them.
  • If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain 4 of 13
If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain
...then you better hope there are hair dryers stashed in the bathrooms at work. It's a random SAS perk that I was thankful for - I hair-dryed my jeans before walking into a conference where I knew nobody.
  • An amazing conference at work 5 of 13
    An amazing conference at work
about communications. It was awesome and I learned so much. So thankful to have the opportunity to go.
  • Even though the weather kind of sucked, we still parked it up 6 of 13
Even though the weather kind of sucked, we still parked it up
My kid loves the park and I'm more than happy to oblige.
  • Plants and flowers 7 of 13
    Plants and flowers
After gutting our front yard, we are slowly adding more plants and color back in. It's been hard (but nice) to choose plants that will look good and grow well in specific areas.
  • Sometimes you just need lunch in the car 8 of 13
Sometimes you just need lunch in the car
to decompress, listen to music, read a book, and not have to deal with the rest of the world. Yep, I was basically Grumpy Cat all week.
  • This guy kept me company on the hard nights 9 of 13
This guy kept me company on the hard nights
I try very hard to not let my depression effect Harry, so on the night where I just couldn't make it, we had a peanut butter and jelly picnic on the couch and watched a movie under a fort of blankets. He thought it was amazing and I was able to take it easy.
  • I got my hairs done 10 of 13
    I got my hairs done
She did a great job, but she also put something on my scalp that created a massive allergic reaction. I washed it out immediately, then spent the entire week with dirty hair and zero product in it. I had to wear a baseball cap to keep myself from scratching the tar out of it. MISERY.
  • Sometimes you just need Harry Potter 11 of 13
Sometimes you just need Harry Potter
and a Skinny Girl daquiri. Okay, scratch the last part. It wasn't any good.
  • Blissdom is next week 12 of 13
    Blissdom is next week
I snapped this picture of three candy bunnies because a) EASTER CANDY IS DELICIOUS and b) Blissdom is coming and I cannot wait to beer hug my roomies, Kacia and Diana.
  • But at the end of the week, we are all okay 13 of 13
But at the end of the week, we are all okay
because SUNSHINE. Day light savings! and being alive! happy day!
