Free Activities to Occupy Your Toddler

Free is good, right?

It is winter time and while Connecticut has barely seen any snow this year… some days are just too cold to hang outside.

So I started thinking about all the free things there are to do with toddlers that aren’t just exclusive to my local area, but things you can do anywhere…

Whether it is at your own home, or in your local area.

These are our favorite activities to pack up in the car and head out to do… well almost all of them you have to leave the house for.

I would love to include all of your favorite free ideas in a future post, so be sure to comment below with your favorites and of course your name!

If you have your own website, go ahead and include that as well!

  • Crafts 1 of 6
Find some crafting stuff around the house and make a project!
One of my favorites was painting rocks we collected at the beach for free with paint we had laying around the house.
The toddlers loved it and it was a great activity to work on their fine motor skills!

While in the winter time these may be a petrie dish of germs for your toddler, they are a great way for them to run out energy!
We frequent one probably once a week just so they can get their energy out.

If the weather is nice enough bundle them up and bring them to the play ground!
Even if it is cold the fresh air is good for them, especially if they are fighting off a bug.

Like going to the playground -- if the weather is nice enough to go outside for a little bit... head out into your yard and just let them get their sillies out.
Playing outside is always great from them to use their imagination as well!

Another place you can play for free.
Most do not require you purchase anything to play in the tunnels and slides.

  • Library 6 of 6
Libraries are great places to head to with your toddler and most have free programs geared towards their age group!
If they don't have the programs, taking the time to check out the kids section and take out a book is just as good!
