Three years ago, I was sitting in a hospital room waiting to be wheeled off to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to see my baby boy.
I had labored for over 27 hours and after finally admitting defeat and admitting there was no way I would be able to VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) deliver my little boy I consented to a repeat C-section and off we went to the operating room.
1:59 p.m. we welcomed Benjamin Emil Elwood and he has lit up our lives ever since.
Through breast milk allergies, colic, and developmental delays he has defied the odds repeatedly and proven what a blessing he is to our family.
Yesterday we had a great day. We celebrated with Ben getting his very first bicycle, and then enjoying a yummy cheeseburger and ice cream at Red Robin to end the day.
It couldn’t have been a better third birthday if you ask me!
Now, I want to look back over Ben’s years in our family and just how much he has changed!
