Hey Girl, hey!

Oh, this week.  It’s only Wednesday and it feels like it should be Friday, amirite?

So last night we went house hunting just to keep our options open – we’re still considering renting but would love to just move once and strike while the interest rates are low – and I have to say that house hunting now has less of a luster than it did when we were property virgins back in 2007.  Now we look at the practical things like linen closets and attics and repairs that will need to be made.  We saw one house that was an obvious flip where they took the old kitchen lights, including a 24-inch mini fan, and put them in the garage.  I wish I had taken a picture because mini fans look funny to begin with in a normal room, but in a double garage with 20 foot ceilings, they look down-right ridiculous.

We also looked at a foreclosure that needed a ton of work and decided that at this point in our lives with the amount we work in the office, it was not a practical solution.

Then we saw a fantastic house but the two showings before and behind us were second showings – and the house had only been on the market one day!  Pretty sure that one will be gone in the next 24 hours.

So that’s the “fun” that we’ve had this week and here’s the rest of what we’ve been up to:

    Harrison had a great week.
He's had a great time at school - yesterday was "Itsy Bitsy Spider" day so he was pumped since he knows that song. He's got another funky cold, but is still sleeping well (knock on wood!).
  • Company picnic time! 2 of 11
    Company picnic time!
"Picnic" means beer tents, several food tents, bounce houses, a band, & fireworks. After years at a nonprofit where potlucks were the norm, our little family was overwhelmed! But Harry had a great time hanging out with his little friends.
  • My house is in boxes. 3 of 11
    My house is in boxes.
I spent the majority of Sunday afternoon packing bits & pieces of our house. My china cabinet is completely packed, the guest room is 1/2 done, & I've started on the kitchen.
  • Time on the porch. 4 of 11
    Time on the porch.
The weather was gorgeous. We ate almost every meal on our back porch & spent hours in the sunshine.
  • The most epic train track ever. 5 of 11
The most epic train track ever.
We dug this out of my parent's attic & it's been the go-to toy for the evenings. We've also pulled out the splash table - I can't believe it's going to be summer so soon! Wasn't it just Christmas?
  • Ramping up the workouts. 6 of 11
    Ramping up the workouts.
I did 3.5 miles of brisk walking one day & have started adding occasional jogs throughout the walk. It's good to burn off steam & I'm feeling stronger.
  • We have an obsession with self-serve frozen yogurt. 7 of 11
We have an obsession with self-serve frozen yogurt.
It's the perfect treat & I have to admit that we go probably once per week for dessert.
  • Skinny jeans musings. 8 of 11
    Skinny jeans musings.
I love the colored skinny jeans trend. I love the food that makes my ass too big for said jeans even more. So I'll stick to my regular old jeans.
  • Golf widow. 9 of 11
    Golf widow.
Doug bought Harrison his first club & it took visitng two different golf stores to find the right one. oof.
  • Date night. 10 of 11
    Date night.
Last night, Doug & I went house hunting with our realtors, then stopped for a beer & Blooming Onion at Outback. yum!
  • No BlogHer for me this year. 11 of 11
No BlogHer for me this year.
This was a rough part of the week, realizing that I can't go to the BlogHer conference this year. Then I found this photo from BlogHer 2010 with some of my best girls & it made my heart sad. Yes, I am prancing like a tiger down the streets of NYC.
