How Peony Spent her Thanksgiving Vacation (PHOTOS)

Peony got all glammed up over Thanksgiving

As we do every Thanksgiving, we trek from Colorado to New York to see my family. I can’t pinpoint what makes our celebration the greatest day of my year, but it has something to with a combination of my family and a Brussels sprouts side dish that is good enough to carry me through for another 364 days.

Peony is a decent traveler. She doesn’t love being cooped up on an airplane (to be fair — who among us does?), but she loves just about everything else about seeing the whole family. Trips to the zoo, playdates with cousins, and, of course, special time with Grandma and Pop Pop.

Here’s a snapshot (or 12) of her Thanksgiving vacation:

    Barely Surviving
We're pleased to report that big sister Petunia did not kill little Peony over Thanksgiving.
    Despite Petunia's best efforts.
  • Elmo-ing 2 of 12
Peony discovered Elmo when we took his rock-n-roll alter ego out of our basement.
Needless to say, they became fast friends.
  • Carousel-ing 3 of 12
Peony took her first carousel ride with her big cousin at the Bronx Zoo.
  • Modeling 4 of 12
She doesn't know why we took so many pictures of her in this dress, but you can probably hazard a guess.
  • Hamming 5 of 12
Because she is just so freakin' adorable in it, perhaps?
  • Walking 6 of 12
We went on lots of Thanksgiving walks.
  • Sleeping 7 of 12
Peony did her best to get some rest to keep up with visiting with lots of family.
  • Family-ing 8 of 12
After all, cousins can really wear a toddler out.
  • Pop Pop-ing 9 of 12
    Pop Pop-ing
Pop Pop never tired of telling jokes, and Peony never tired of laughing at them or at least listening to them.
  • Grandma-ing 10 of 12
Grandma reads "Goodnight Moon" just as well (if not better) than Mommy.
  • Swinging 11 of 12
Getting fresh air can't happen often enough.
  • Recovering 12 of 12
    And she slept some more.
