I love my momma and know she did her best with packing six lunches per day (me, my four siblings, and my dad!). They were always healthy and well-balanced and things we enjoyed. But there were a few things I wish she did differently. Namely, putting peanut butter on BOTH pieces of bread so the jelly wouldn’t seep through.
More importantly, I always wished that she left me notes in my lunchbox. I saw other friends have this surprise each day, a little hand written “I love you” or “You’re great!” or “Ace that math test!” It’s not that I thought they were more loved…but I just wished my mom had tossed in a little something extra along with the carrot sticks and fruit snacks.
Now that I’m packing Harrison’s lunch every day for school, I want to start getting into the habit of leaving him notes. But how do you leave notes for a kid that can’t read?
I think I found the solution: DRAWINGS!
What do you do special for your child’s lunch?
