My Baby: Climbing His Way To Toddlerhood.

Baby on step stool

Oh crap.

Remember Fuzzball? Such a sweet baby. He could do no wrong, that Fuzzy Fuzzball. Always smiling and doing cute baby things, like crawling and babbling and stuff. Well, today, he crawled into the kitchen for…no kidding…30 seconds before I went to look at him and this is what I found:

Here he is, in my beautiful 1970′s, slightly disordered kitchen. He is standing on a high stool with his hand in a bowl of whole cherry tomatoes.  One already made it to his mouth. At least he was chewing it with his six teeth.

Yikes! Just for posterity, I had him do it again so I could see for myself (and record in photos) how he managed to get into such a position.

oh my goodness, that kids breaks my heart with the cuteness! i find it so interesting how babies want to climb before they can even walk. (in our case, they tried to climb before they could even crawl!) there’s a web site called ask an evolutionary biologist (?) or something like that where you can post questions for the biologists to answer, and i asked what evolutionary purpose did climbing serve since babies like to climb so much! a biologist wrote back and said they just like to use different muscles and stuff, but i think that’s a crock. they clearly want to get as high as possible, right?
