I don’t spend a whole lot of time stressing over my kids’ diets. They’re gonna eat what they’re gonna eat and grow up just fine so all my worrying is only bad or MY health.
That said, I do try to mix it up at snack times and meals and give them proteins and veggies and fruits when I can.
The easiest healthy food to get my kids to eat is berries, probably because they’re so sweet, not to mention delicious.
I have a couple go-to concoctions I can whip up lickety-split that my kids will usually eat and figured I’d share them with you.
Here are my top three super fast, easy berry snacks for my kids.
Blueberries and cottage cheese – Henry isn’t sure about cottage cheese yet but Violet loves it. I still cut Henry’s blueberries in half too.
Strawberries and Cool Whip – Sometimes I freeze the Cool Whip and my kids truly think they’re eating ice cream.
Berry Smoothie – I got this recipe from parentsconnect.com:
- 1 cup frozen berries (any kind)
- 1 ½ cup low-fat/fat-free milk
- ½ cup apple juice
- 3 tbsp nonfat dry milk
The nonfat dry milk in these smoothies adds protein and makes a more satisfying meal. Or else they’re ideal for a healthy snack or even work as breakfast.
