Besides putting miles on our vehicle, road trips are a fantastic way for our family to bond. And by “bond” I really mean confine ourselves to tight quarters and try not to lose our tempers while still getting where we need to go and Why on earth did we plan this roadtrip again?
With music snobs for parents and children ages 9, 5, and 3, it can be a challenge to find music that we all agree on. Here are our time-tested favorites.
Here Come the ABCs 1 of 6They Might be Giants have produced so many great children's CDs, and this is one of our favorites.
The Merry Goes Round 2 of 6Ever since I got this CD last spring, it has been a staple. "Sammy the Spider" is my toddler's favorite song!
Silly Sing-Along 3 of 6This songbook-CD pack is filled with whimsical tunes that you and your toddler will love. It's an interactive CD that will get you moving on those long drives to grandma's!
You are My Little Bird 4 of 6Do you know about Elizabeth Mitchell? If you have a toddler, you absolutely should. Her songs are sweet and well-written and your kiddo will love them, I promise!
The Green Album 5 of 6This CD is comprised of wonderful covers of Muppets songs, some better-known than others. My kids love "Mahna Mahna" by The Fray and "Our World" by My Morning Jacket the most.
Catch that Train! 6 of 6Dan Zanes doesn't make "typical" children's music, and this difference is one of the reasons he's a hit with my family. The songs on Catch that Train are great for roadtrips because they do not all sound alike; it's enough to keep even the littlest members of the family engaged.
