Last week a took you on a tour of a place where the buffalo really do roam. Come to think of it, the deer and the antelope play there too.
It’s a place called Antelope Island and it sits smack in the middle of The Great Salt Lake. It really is like no place on Earth.
Antelope Island State Park is my pick for Coca-Cola’s third annual America is Your Park campaign. Your vote can help your favorite park win the title of “America’s Favorite Park” and a $100,000 recreation grant from Coca-Cola. Every park has a chance and the cool thing is you can vote as many times as you want.
Stop and think about it. What would we do without parks? Sure parks are beautiful and all but I never realized how crucial they are until I had kids. Especially toddlers overflowing with energy on an hourly basis. Where else would we go to get out of the house and play on slides and swings or just get a big old gulp of fresh air.
Parks are the glue of our communities. They are where we go to socialize and let our children burn off steam. We host parties there, we relax and read, we play ball.
Seriously! Where would we be without parks?
That’s why the America Is Your Park campaign is so cool. Coca-Cola is just going to hand over $100,000 to the park with the most votes. And yeah, right now it looks like my park isn’t going to win but some park somewhere will win. And the reason it will win is because the community came together, rallied the troops and decided that their little park would be the one to win big money.
When that park wins it will become a special place to be because the people that go there will know that they accomplished something great because they banded together to make it happen.
So go vote for your favorite park or mine or just go vote for the number one park because the reason it’s number one right now is because a lot of people really care about that park. You can’t go wrong. Just click here and it’s done. You can also add a Facebook badge to encourage others to vote for your park.
