The Best Toddler Activity, Ever!
Who says toddlers are too young to help with the laundry? As long as you don’t mind it taking an hour for the clothes to go from the washer to the dryer… no one, that’s who!
Tonight my older toddler (The Shnook) spent a good long while taking every single piece of clothing out of the washing machine, INDIVIDUALLY, then climbed up a stool and put them in the dryer, but not without first announcing each item in a deadpan voice. It went something like this:
“My sock.”
“Daddy’s underpants.”
“Your bra.”
“Fuzzball’s pants.”
“My underpants.”
“My shirt.”
“Fuzzball’s sock.”
etc…
It was high comedy, and a good thing no one was in a hurry. I did try to help him at one point, but you can imagine how that went. Never try to help your toddler do anything to save time. It will just take twice as long because you’ll have to undo everything you did to try to make things go faster.
By the way, do you think this is indicative of some kind of obsessive/compulsive disorder?

My older daughter loves to fold laundry…what is it about laundry? Oh, and we bribed her into cleaning the living room by promising her $5, and she did it! Best money I ever spent! Now, if only Abby would hurry up and get big enough to help.
Audrey helps me move from the washer to the dryer too. We have a top loader washer, so I have to put it on the door for the dryer, and she pushes it in. She helps take it out too.
And folding … she LOVES to help fold laundry. She does a pretty good job with the small towels and diapers.
My 14 month old son LOVES doing laundry, and has since he was able to pull himself up (6 months!). Whenever he hears the dryer go off, he runs for the laundry room so he can help me.. his favorite is pulling things out and handing them to me (with a few things ending up on the floor in between of course). And if I try to go in the laundry room without him? Forget it – instant screaming LOL! Can’t wait till he’s big enough to actually fold the clothes! Or, hang them up instead of running into my closet and pulling them off the hangers and handing them to me
