When I wrote my post yesterday about the top 7 toddler toys I nearly kill myself on, at first I thought there was no one out there that would relate. I got comments about cleaning up before bed, and how to avoid the painful walk to the bathroom with the lights off.
Of course we clean up before bedtime! But it doesn’t change the fact that a toy here and there often makes its way back out or that a tiny part is forgotten in the mean time. Okay, so SOME nights we don’t clean up. Gasp! Mainly on weekends, when we have a very busy schedule and may be coming home late at night when the kids fell asleep in the car. Sleeping kids = Mommy and Daddy running to bed as quick as they can and knocking out, too!
But then the readers started chiming in on Facebook, and we got some really great replies about interesting toys that have hurt parents’ feet: in the middle of the night, while cooking dinner, walking through the house, and at all different hours of the day. Come on people, parenting is a dangerous thing! Haha!
Thank you to everyone who replied!
I wanted to share some of the awesome replies we got from the Babble.com Facebook page followers:
The worse I can remember (in the last 5 yrs.) would be the Barbie doll with her arms outstretched. Those hands are enough to send you sailing. My granddaughter was not very good at picking up the dolls from the bathroom floor or bedroom.
I guess I am not looking forward to having Barbies in the house!
Not really a toy, but her books! Esp on hardwood floors they are a little slippery!
I can’t tell you how many times I have done the same thing in our house. We have hard wood floors in our living room and my favorite equation is: hard wood floors + Kids books = death trap!
My son loves those figures you get at Michael’s and AC Moore. He had a dragon that had individual scales down it’s back. I stepped on it and one of the scales pierced my foot. I didn’t realize I was bleeding right away and left a trail through the house. It was like a crime scene!
OUCH! We have those same dinosaurs in our house… I can’t imagine stepping on the triceratops!
magnetic drawing board on the kitchen floor…3am+toy+slick hardwood floor=death trap!!!!! was like stepping on a skateboard lol
Almost like the books! Note to self on the magnetic drawing boards!
I actually stepped on my son’s hot wheel car and slipped, jamming my foot into my loveseat and breaking a toe…. Not pleasant
Ouch! Good to know I am not the only one out there who comes into battle contact with my children’s toys!
