This is my little buddy Brenden, or Bren, as we like to call him. He fell down and scratched his nose just a week before his second birthday, which was last week, and I was worried that it would mess up his birthday pictures. I’m pretty sure he’s still one of the cutest kids (at least to me, of course!), and we are so amazed at the big guy he is becoming.
While I know the “terrible twos” are right in front of me (although I’m pretty sure he started a little early), there is also so much that I love about this age and stage. I know I have some great stuff to look forward to over the next year of his life.
My guy is already a great communicator. We have been blessed with early talkers. I love being able to talk to him and get a little glimpse of what’s going on in that sweet head of his. Two of his favorite things to say right now are, “No Way!” and, “I yuve you so much!”
We were at our city’s kiddie pool/water park today and it was great to be able to talk with my friend while our kids played in the water. After helping Bren get used to the water and see that he could touch and float with his life jacket/swimsuit, he was perfectly happy to go off on his own. I love not having to watch/worry about him every single second and finally being able to have some adult conversations.
He already knows how to run (away from me!), dance around, and almost jump, but it’s the development that’s going on in his little brain that I really love. I was so impressed the first time my daughter “read” a book to me, just because she had memorized all the words, and I’m looking forward to all that Bren will learn about the world around him this year.
Although I’m not looking forward to the discipline challenges that this next year will bring, there are so many things about two year olds to love, and I really don’t think they are “terrible” at all!
What are your favorite things about the stage your toddler is in?
