They See Me Rolling, They Hating.Beth Anne Ballance
It’ll be our little secret.
My kiddo really loves to be outside but is not quite to the point of playing soccer, so outside usually means I supervise while he runs around with the pup or jumps on his toddler trampoline. Which means that I spend a lot of time sitting in the grass with my journal and an iced coffee rather than working up a sweat.
I talked a little about why I’ve started taking daily walks with my 2.5 year-old on my personal blog and oh my, the Vitamin D makes me sparkle like a unicorn on a regular basis. But what I love best about our walks is the quality one-on-one time we get together each morning.
I really thought he would fight the stroller, being an independent little dude that is quite capable of going on a long walk. But he seems to really enjoy the time to chill out in the morning and let breakfast digest.
As we walk, he points out the neighbors slides in their backyards or dogs in the windows and I explain how some cars are red and some are blue but they’re still all cars. If we get up and moving by 8:15am, we get to see the school bus make the rounds at the bus stops in the neighborhood or the garbage truck on Thursday. I’ve taken my phone and earbuds but never put them in – it’s just so much fun to be with him before I sit down to work the rest of the day.
Do you have any cool morning routine that gets you going?
