Today Is National Go Bonkers Day

Who Us?

I need to lighten things up around here. I need to remember that my children are amazing and cute and sweet and that I love them dearly.

Because currently? Currently they are (whether it is consciously or not), driving me around the bend. The toddler boy is running around like a wild banshee throwing things down the stairs, having melt downs, and has morphed into steady whine-talker. I can hear him causing a major ruckus as I try to tap away at work.

My poor teenage babysitters. They will be turned off from having children for life.

So today is just one of those days, right?

Why is it that I have no wine or chocolate in the house?

Hmph.

My daughter is running a mild fever, drooling and snotting all over the place, and is pretty much melting everywhere she goes, waddling around like a poor little zombie.

They’ve been cuddled, soothed, walked and fed. They’ve been played with and read to and sang to and have been let free to run wild at the park … in particular the toddler boy. To no avail.

It’s like they know that I’m paying some babysitters to help us through the madness that is the mister away on a short weekend tour with while our daycare provider is on holiday this week.

It’s like they know that I have deadlines and that my brain does a slow agonizing twitch when I hear them take all who come in their path asunder. Oy vey. It takes everything in me to continue working instead of going to be with my kids. Next time this scenario goes down, I need to leave the house. When they know I am here working downstairs, it’s like all hell breaks loose.

Lesson learned.

What do YOU do when your daycare provider goes on holiday and your partner is away? (Single parents, how do you do it?!)
