Toddler Fashion File: Pillowcase Dresses!

By marylweimer |

When it comes to toddler fashion, my style is decidedly classic.

Sure, trendy clothes are cute and all, but there’s just something so timeless about a classic look.

I love dressing my daughter in the kind of clothes I once wore: smocked dresses, Mary Janes, and rompers. My mother even saved some of my baby clothes which I love now sharing with Molly.

Pillowcase dresses have long been a classic favorite of mine. These dresses became popular because they’re so easy to make (pillowcase optional!) and they’re not quickly outgrown because of their liberal measurements.

They’re classic and come in so many cute variations these days. With such a basic shape the fun is in finding patterns and trim that give the dresses a little toddler flair.

And heads up, toddler mamas, your children will soon have their own opinions about their clothes (and everything else!) so if there’s a certain style that you love, now’s the time to indulge. They won’t be babies forever.

Here are a few of my favorite pillowcase dresses from Etsy! I hope they inspire you to make or buy one of your own.
