Treat Yo Self Mama!

If you watch Parks & Rec, or even if you don’t, you’ve probably heard of the phrase “Treat Yo Self!” tossed all about on the interwebs. But, as mamas we often don’t take the time to treat ourselves. On a daily basis most/all of our time/effort/energy/money goes into everyone else around us (read: family), but it’s so important to take the time to splurge on ourselves now and again. Treating yourself doesn’t have to mean “clothes, fragrances, massages, mimosas or fine leatha goods” – it can mean just taking a moment to yourself. This is something I’ve been trying to do more often for my sanity and it has made SUCH a difference. I highly recommend a little “treat yo self” time!

    Every morning I wake up early and take some time to myself to drink a mocha and peruse the internet... all. by. my. self. It's beautiful and so rejuvenating.

    I'm not much of a drinker, but occasionally I'll treat myself to an adult beverage just for me. My husband is a beer and whiskey guy which aren't my jam, so sometimes I'll buy something that only I like and even if I only enjoy a little, it's well worth it.

    Organic deliciousness
    I didn't always buy organic food, but since getting pregnant and even more since having my daughter, I've made it a priority. I consider it a treat for myself for taking care of my body and being healthy. Instead of wasting money on processed crap, I treat myself to delicious, sometimes more expensive (...ok often times) fruit and vegetables.

    My husband still brings me flowers sometimes, but why should I sit around and wait for him to bring me some when I can treat myself to a bouquet? I love buying inexpensive bouquets at Trader Joe's - these pretty ranunculus' were only $4.99! A small indulgence that instantly lifts my mood.

    Recently I've been getting back into a gym habit and in celebration of the dedication I'd been displaying, I treated myself to a new pair of workout shoes. It's the little things mamas!
