What Does Your Toddler Remember?

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with where your child’s memory is. It seems that my 3-year-old son is constantly surprising me with what he remembers, sometimes details that I can barely recall! Just today, in the car, we were talking about how apples grow and he started talking about tractor trucks and bags of apples and Uncle Spencer climbing a tree… and then finally I figured it out! He was talking about when we went apple picking last fall in NY with my family. It wasn’t so long ago that I would sit with him in bed, when he was just under 2, try to talk about specific details from our day and it seemed like he’d already forgotten! It blows my mind that he can now remember so far back, almost a year ago, with such distinct images.

Does your toddler’s memory surprise you? Do you think their memory is selective? (Oh geez, sometimes I hope so!)
