Why I Want My Kids to Believe in Santa

Our Santa Picture this year

Santa seems to be a really hot button issue these days… I would never have thought in a million years it would come down to serious online mom wars over telling your kids Santa is real and actually letting them know Mommy and Daddy are the ones really behind the presents.

Either way, whatever you do… I have no hard feelings, live and let live right? If you want to tell your kids you bought the presents, more power to you, but in our house, we do the whole Santa thing.

We don’t do the religious Christmas thing, we have taken the Christ out of Christmas, as someone pointed out to me we apparently celebrate Mas. Call it CommericalMas, PresentMas, SantaMas… whatever… that is what we celebrate.

I really started to think about reasons why I have adapted the Santa thing in my house, and actual reasons I find it important to my kids while they are young.

I am sure everyone else has their reasons for what they do, and how they celebrate the holiday, and I would love for others to share what they do in the comment section below!

I love embracing the differences in my readers, and the way other families do things, who knows it may influence someone else who reads to change their way of doing things and adapt a new tradition or way of thinking!

    Using their imagination!
I think using the whole Santa Claus thing helps them to really use their imagination. I can only imagine what kind of awesome ideas, and stories they think up for the big guy!

It was part of my childhood
As selfish as it sounds, Santa was a part of my childhood, and I want my kids to be able to have the joy it brought me as a child. It is just something we do in my family!

I know at least around where we live, most kids believe in Santa, at least in our their class, and I don't want them to feel left out.

I believe in Christmas magic. I am heading towards 30 years old and I still believe in Santa myself... Yup! I am that person!
